CeCe Garrett
Hattiesburg, MS

An Etsy shop owner living in Mississippi, CeCe Garrett offers a variety of LGBTQ and Pride items in her online store. After moving back to MIssissippi with her husband following a brief stint in Dayton, OH, the couple began an open and affirming Methodist ministry to cater to LGBTQ people and others who felt unwelcome in their faith communities. Although she’s received some negative responses from people opposed to her shop’s items, CeCe says the positive messages and supportive words she’s received far outweigh them, and she’s proud to be an ally to the LGBTQ community.

“As a Christian business owner, I am aware that having pro-LGBTQ items in my shop limits me and might have people questioning my faith, but love is the law…it’s how I live personally and how I live as a businesswoman and entrepreneur,” she said. “My choices may not be considered financially safe, but safe is no way to live if it’s cutting whole swaths of people out of the equation. We’re all connected with a common thread, and it’s time to celebrate it.”
