For Denny Samen, growing up in the 1960s and 1970s, life was never marked by shame – and she said she never hid her identity as a lesbian. Denny has always had a fighting spirit, which she said developed in part from her years of service in the U.S. military. Denny has faced discrimination in both housing and employment, and she is eager to continue speaking out for the dignity of all people, including LGBTQ people, particularly in her home state of Pennsylvania.
She said: “When my friends tell me it’s about time to ditch all of my rainbow LGBTQ pride signs, I only have one reply – ‘Why? That’s who I am!’”
