Walla Walla, WA

Everett grew up on the East Coast, and it was a disjointing experience when he and his wife moved to a rural area in Walla Walla, WA. Although the couple fell out of some old patterns, they also discovered new joys, including nature, and they now love to go on trips throughout national parks.

In addition to changing coasts, Everett and his wife also were thrilled to finally live in a state that explicitly protects LGBTQ people from discrimination – Washington. “That makes me really proud to call Washington my new home,” Everett said. “The freedom that has come with transitioning wouldn’t be complete without the protections offered by Washington’s transgender nondiscrimination laws. The world is open now, but these nondiscrimination protections allow me to move freely and safely through it.”
