Today, Frank Potopa is nestled into the comfort of nearly four-decades long relationship with his partner (and now spouse), Michael, and their supportive community of friends and family. But years ago, he was a 13-year-old boy in a small Pennsylvania town who was treated as an outsider and plagued by depression and suicidal thoughts. Now, Frank hopes young LGBTQ people in the next generation have an easier time.
“Nondiscrimination protections would help young people have a fair shake as they reach awareness of their own sexual identities,” he said. “It gives LGBTQ people the same opportunities as anyone else.”
