Councilmember-at-Large Jason Williams was elected to city council in 2014, and he has been a strong advocate for LGBTQ rights in Louisiana. In December 2016, he opened the White House World AIDS Day Summit at Tulane University, informing and educating participants of the ongoing HIV/AIDS crisis. He also voted in favor of the “Welcoming Cities” ordinance to officially recognize New Orleans as a city that is welcoming to immigrants and multicultural residents. Councilman Williams has proven himself to be an ally and a supporter of nondiscrimination policies.
