Kaden Mohamed is a transgender man living in Massachusetts. He was raised female but knew from a young age that that didn’t quite fit, and so he transitioned to live every day as the man he has long known himself to be. Kaden has spoken at length about his journey to accepting himself, and he often shares in these speaking the importance of nondiscrimination laws. He knows that inclusive legislation greatly impacts LGBTQ people and protects them from potential harms in housing, employment, public spaces, and more.
“I have seen my own friends be harassed and treated differently for who they are,” Kaden said. “Those experiences were terrifying, and I’m scared to think about what could have happened if I wasn’t there to help them. These laws protect people’s lives. We — the transgender community — don’t do anything differently than anyone else, in a restroom or any other place. We’re human like everyone else, and we want to live our lives without fear of discrimination.”
