Nette & Jasmine Archangel
Baton Rouge, LA

Nette Archangel’s birthday in 2012 was a very special one – but not because she was the one being surprised. On April 4th, 2012, at 11:58 pm, Nette turned to Jasmine, the love of her life and girlfriend of almost three years, and proposed. They were married just months later in New York, surrounded by their closest friends, and embarked on their lives together. In 2014, the couple realized a dream of theirs: to become foster parents. And in 2017 they were thrilled to complete their foster-to-adopt journey with their second son, Thomas.

“We smile because we can now say, this is my wife and these are our sons,” Nette says. “They can grow up in a new world where their family is the new normal. It feels so good to walk into an atmosphere and refer to each other as ‘wife’ with pride. … The road to adoption is far from easy but definitely worth the trip. We couldn’t imagine our family without our boys. Is this it for us? We don’t know, but in the meantime, we are advocating for every child to have a loving home with a loving family.”
